Metal Detecting Clubs 07/10/2009
I've just put the finishing touches on organizing the metal detecting club links on my website. I created an entire list of defunct or clubs of unknown status. As I was researching and composing, a million ideas flew through my head about detecting clubs so I thought I'd set a few down here in a bit of a ramble. First idea is leadership. Someone has to want to do it and inspire others to participate. It takes time and commitment. This is no small thing to ask for people who are trying find time to detect, hold down a job and have a home/family life. So, besides a leader, there need to be some helpers. From the leader to the helpers they are all volunteers. They don't get paid for any of the tasks they perform for the club. It is their personal time they are giving to you. It is a gift. Don't look the gift horse in the mouth. CommentsDan (gibsondan) 07/20/2009 19:04:50 Very interesting. Now I see why so many clubs fail. 09/22/2009 09:51:07 Thanks for the article, I have been considering many of your points and have found some good ideas for Dayton Diggers. Tim Jeandrevin 12/29/2009 10:58:17 Wow, great points. I have been thinking of starting a club for N.E. Ohio. (Akron, Canton, Massillon, Alliance areas) But, of course all welcome. These are all important things to ponder! charly Ritt 02/06/2010 10:25:39 Nick ... i went to school there at OU mike jarvis 04/28/2010 11:49:50 I lost my wedding band in about a 20x20ft. area of my front yard. I would love to buy a nice detector but I have six kids and needless to say there are alot of things higher on the list right now. I was thinking about renting a metal detector. Any ideas about how to go about this? I lost my keys on sunday 02/06/11 at the twinsburg, Ohio dog park which is now under six inches of snow. 330-995-6032 Your comment will be posted after it is approved.
