Big thank you to my friend Steve for inviting me to hunt with him today at this great private park he has permission at.

Arrived at the site in the am and in the first hour I got a 1903-O Barber quarter, not much else for a long while except a buffalo and some wheats. Got a silver Roosie (don't know which) next to a dead plug. Steve got a few silver and wheats as well, but the ground was dry and the heat was oppressive, no digging pennies today if it could be avoided. Took a break and wandered a bit more and Steve decided he'd done all he could do for the day and took off about noontime. I continued to hunt, picked up a few silver dimes 1936 and 1946, one right next to someone else's dead plug again. Someone else had been detecting this site recently and left some messy plugs  - one even had a clad quarter laying right next to it. (Found out later this person was a site poacher and had fibbed to get in, grrr! )

So after another break, it was 2:30 and I had to be on the road by 5:00, so I decided to put the rally cap on. Heat stroke be damned.  I put new batteries in and headed for the hill. I was going to grid hard. Hit two silver Roosies right off the bat, full steam ahead. Silver was flowing now, as was the sweat. I wasn't digging anything clad, passed up at least $10 in quarters and 500 pennies, I'm sure. Felt bad  when I got the half and a silver dime in one hole as I know Steve really wanted a half. Just kept going until 4:45 when I just couldn't do it anymore. I was pushing so hard at the end I was tossing the silver in my pouch to keep going.

Best silver day ever with SIXTEEN silver coins, an incredible silver quarter trifecta - Barber, SLQ and Washington - among FIVE silver quarters for the day (and this the day after I just got THREE silver quarters in one hunt). 1943 half, 1903-O, no date, 1943, 1944, 1954 quarters and dimes 1936, 1942D, 1945, 1946, 1948D, 1952, 1954, 1954D, 1961D, 1964. And an assortment of clad and some wheats. No date on the buffalo nickel and the oldest wheat was 1910.

I was happy to take you up there and let you have your record silver day. If I hadn't dug privies the day before in Lancaster and it hadn't been a scorcher I would have stayed there all day. My best silver day was at another park years ago, but this site has been very good to me.
