Terry Barnhart's 2010 Finds

These are the finds of my friend,Terry Barnhart (Goes4ever on the online forums). He was a Minelab X-Terra 70 wizard, but upgraded to the Minelab E-Trac this year. I think his finds, all made near his home in Van Wert, Ohio and even at sites he thought he had hunted out with the X-Terra are a phenomenal example of what someone can find in Ohio with the right equipment and the right mindset. He met and surpassed many of his detecting goals for the year, over 100 Indian Head cents, over 100 silver coins including two Seated Liberty and a gold class ring and a wide variety of relics.

Terry said, "I had the X-terra 70 for about a year and a half and my local Minelab dealer told me I'd do better with an E-Trac. I thought he was nuts, how could I do better? I was doing exceptionally well
with the X-terra and thought the upgrade would be a waste of money. But come tax time this year the wife told me to go ahead and get the E-Trac. So I did, and I have NEVER looked back, it is an amazing machine and I wish I had gotten it a year earlier!

The number one thing I think I do better with the E-Trac over the X-terra is finding coins in heavy iron, this machine in TTF (two tone ferrous) is literally KILLER, no coins are safe with the E-Trac in your hands! I hunt fields and old farms most all the time, so I needed a machine that could find stuff in heavy iron and the E-Trac is THE machine just for that! It is amazing on deep coins, and for me it is an Indian cent magnet.

Those are great finds. I have two detectors, but have never tried a Minelab. Clear to see you are having luck with yours.

I remember when Terry got the X-terra a few years back. I was thinking about getting one myself but after a friend let me try out his F75 I went with the Fisher, which I've done great with by the way.

Now I've got the itch for a new detector to learn a new machine and rehunt some of my old spots. I like both the E-trac and the Whites v3I and since I never owned a Minelab or Whites it should be a fun learning experience.

The E-trac is awesome but since I'm no spring chicken, detector weight is an issue so I might go for the Whites. Besides being a great detector, the F75 is sure a pleasure to swing all day, especially with the 5"DD coil.

terry's finds are truly inspiring - nick, you don't do shabby yourself! i am using the AT Pro heavily. but if there one machine i would like to add to the arsenal, it would be the e-trac. that thing is a silver killer.
